Il processo decisionale, attuato mediante reti neurali artificiali, è per definizione opaco. Lo studio intende dimostrare che l’opacità non si riferisce, tanto, all’impossibilità di scrutare il meccanismo di funzionamento del sistema informatico o all’incapacità di ricostruire, a ritroso, il processo computazionale che l’algoritmo esegue, ma, piuttosto, all’assenza della capacità speculativa dell’applicativo informatico. Emergerà che i biases non possono essere evitati in quanto insiti nel procedimento algoritmico.
The decision-making process, implemented through artificial neural networks, is by definition opaque. The study intends to demonstrate that opacity does not refer so much to the impossibility of scrutinizing the functioning mechanism of the computer system or to the inability to reconstruct, backwards, the computational process that the algorithm performs, but rather to all absence of the speculative capacity of the computer application. It will emerge that biases cannot be avoided as they are inherent in the algorithmic process.
