Interrogandosi sulle suggestioni che ancora oggi il pensiero e l’opera di Benedetto Croce sono capaci di suscitare, e ponendole a confronto con gli spunti di riflessione offerti dalla contemporaneità, l’Autore sviluppa nel saggio alcune considerazioni sui contenuti e le implicazioni del principio di laicità nel solco degli insegnamenti del Concilio Vaticano II sui rapporti tra Chiesa e comunità politica: per poi individuarne i corollari nei principi del pluralismo, dell’uguaglianza, della distinzione degli ordini che affondano le loro radici nella tradizione e nella bimillenaria esperienza cristiana.

By wondering about the suggestions arising from the thought and the work of Benedetto Croce still today, and by comparing them with the causes for reflection emerging in current times, the Author develops some considerations concerning the content and the implication of the principle of laicity in the light of the teachings of the Second Vatican Council on the relationship between the Church and the political community in order to identify their corollaries in the principles of pluralism, equality and distinction of orders which are rooted in the tradition and in the two-thousand-year old Christian experience.
