En el marco del estudio de la tradición catalana de la Legenda aurea de Jacobo de la Vorágine, centramos nuestra atención en la leyenda de Judas Iscariote recogida en el capítulo XLV, dedicado a San Matías. Realizamos un análisis comparativo del texto catalán y el texto latino, que nos desvela las características de la traducción catalana y las diferencias que presenta respecto al texto latino. Nos basamos en la edición más reciente de la obra del dominico (G.P. Maggioni 2007) y, para el texto catalán, tomamos en consideración los cinco manuscritos más importantes que transmiten la leyenda. De este modo, nuestro estudio no solo aporta datos sobre la relación entre la traducción catalana y su posible modelo latino, sino también sobre las relaciones que hay entre los manuscritos catalanes considerados.
Within the study of the Catalan tradition of the Legenda aurea by Iacobus de Voragine, we have focused on the legend of Judas Iscariote, (chapter XLV, dedicated to Saint Mathias). We have carried out a comparative analysis of the Catalan text and the Latin text, which reveals the characteristics of the Catalan translation and its differences in relation to the Latin text. We have based on the most recent edition of the Dominican’s work (G.P. Maggioni 2007) and, regarding the Catalan text, we have taken into consideration the five most important manuscripts in which the legend is transmitted. So, our study not only provides data about the relationship between the Catalan translation and its possible Latin model, but also about the relationships among the Catalan manuscripts themselves.
