Il contributo presenta l’edizione commentata delle sezioni arturiane di due compilazioni provenzali finora inedite, le Flors de cronicas e l’Abreujamens de las estorias. Si tratta delle traduzioni, rispettivamente, dei Flores chronicorum di Bernardo Gui e del Compendium gestarum rerum di Paolino Veneto, entrambi inquisitori al servizio di papa Giovanni XXII. Lo studio delle fonti ricostruisce i legami delle due compilazioni con cronache latine precedenti, in particolare con il Chronicon di Martino Polono e con lo Speculum historiale di Vincent de Beauvais. Sono invece escluse influenze da parte della tradizione cavalleresca francese.
This paper presents the edition and commentary of the Arthurian sections of two hitherto unpublished Provençal compilations, the Flors de cronicas and Abreujamens de las estorias. These latter are translations into vernacular of the Flores chronicorum by Bernard Gui and of the Compendium gestarum rerum by Paulinus of Venice – both inquisitors at the service of Pope John XXII. On the one hand, the analysis of the sources retraces the connections between the compilations and previous Latin chronicles, namely the Chronicon by Martin of Poland and the Speculum historiale di Vincent de Beauvais; on the other hand, the study demonstrates that the texts developed independently from the French chivalric tradition.
