Entre els abundants personatges femenins de la Vita Christi d’Isabel de Villena, dos presenten unes característiques especialment interessants: Eva i Maria Magdalena. Tot i que ambdues dones han estat considerades com a paradigmes del binomi dona-pecat en la major part dels discursos misògins de l’edat mitjana europea, en l’obra de l’abadessa valenciana assistim a un espectacular procés de restauració moral d’aquestes mitjançant un discurs inusualment favorable al gènere femení.
