Bert Demarsin
(°1980) Studied law at KU Leuven (1998-2003, magna cum laude) and at Université Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne (2003, magna cum laude). In 2008 he obtained a doctorate in law with a thesis entitled Authenticity and contracting about art – A comparative legal analysis. Subsequently he was a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford Law School (USA).
Currently Bert Demarsin is Professor of both Art and Cultural Heritage Law and Comparative Law at KU Leuven. He is the author of numerous publications in the aforementioned fields of law. Given his legal expertise in the art and heritage sector, he is the director of the Academic & Historical Heritage Office, responsible for the management of the University’s cultural heritage and scientific collections.
